Take no prisoners

Nancy Spearo's piece "Maypole: take no prisoners" is part of her War Series and has been exhibited various times, but continues to remain pertinent to the current U.S. political situation.

"And again, I am so dumbfounded that this continues—that this would be allowed to happen again, right under our noses. […] It’s really beyond my comprehension. And the only tool I really have is my art". (hyperalergic) 

This piece contains elements which I have been working with as well: justice, war crimes and their effects on society, American politics and the misuse of power, and identifying with the oppressed and suffering. I have  had sentiments for a long time for the injustice in the world but only recently discovered that art may be my tool for addressing these issues.
