Francoise Gilot's love affair with art & Picasso
“Art doesn’t come from what is around you, but from what is inside of you.” (NYTimes article)
I discovered Francoise Gilot and her love story with art and Picasso. It is fascinating that so many female artists are coming to the foreground now and that we are seeing just how much they influenced the men around them. Picasso’s biographer John Richardson said, “Picasso took from her rather more than she took from him.”
She wrote about her life with Picasso in her memoir, Life with Picasso.
I found her quotes inspiring:
"The most important thing in life is to be true to yourself. You can be true to others, if you have time."
